Apron Pockets?! Why?

I have been asked why people put pockets on aprons....
My experience is that MOST, not all, people
prefer them.

I love the design factor...
It's fun to put buttons, bows, contrasting fabrics, or ribbon on them.
You can create a focal point.
It can be symmetrical or asymetrical.

I think they add a spot of cuteness.

But even more, it is so nice to have a place to drop your phone, or your rings..

In the case of teacher aprons, so nice to have a place to stash cash, popsicle sticks, flash cards, small manipulatives, keys, whistle, etc.
BTW:  I have the fabrics and have begun some teacher aprons!

I am sure there are other things one could use them for.  But for me, those are the main reasons.
Thoughts?

  1. I love having pockets on my aprons. I keep my phone in there while I'm cooking. Plus they're cute!

  2. That's a great place for a phone! And I agree...cuteness matters to some degree - puts a smile on your face. I wonder if there is a difference between "cutesy" and "cute?" I have seen some over the top...ones that are more like costumes, with stuff that would just get in the way for me.
